A Glimpse to a New World
Swatch has historically pushed the watch frontier into new branding spaces and materials. Now collaborating with Fathom Optics, their horizon has broadened into holographic materials. Fathom proposed a new media that not only can be generated and regenerated, but also explore with to provide Swatch endless future marketing possibilities.
Initial Pitch
The Fathom design team made initial pitches to Swatch on possible holographic watches. Mood boards were created based on the most recent Swatch x Omega launch, the Peanuts Swatch collection, and older collections.
Vision and Impact
With their interest peaking, the Swatch team proposed their own mood board and collectively the 2 teams brainstormed a new Swatch line. I led the teams in creating custom effects based off our discussions and trained the Swatch designers on how to use Fathom’s online tool Fathom Designer.
Future collaborations are in the process that are unfortunately under NDA.
The latest collaborative project was the SUSI Optics Jazz, a currency prototype for Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions.
